Q2 2025 Update: The Gospel is on the Move!

Sub-Saharan Africa

Growth in every way

It has been a busy few months in Uganda! The Lord continues to show His goodness in these communities, as evidenced by growth in many ways!

Praise Bible Fellowship, the first church plant in this area, is bursting at the seams and has begun expanding their building! An exceptionally beautiful detail of this expansion is that it’s being fully funded by their church tithes & offerings. This is exciting because it is tangible evidence of the Holy Spirit at work! These people live on very little, yet they walk in obedience to the Lord’s commands to give, even when their earthly needs are great. The full truth of scripture if being taught in it’s entirety, because of your generosity to help pastors receive formal training. Thank you and praise the Lord!

In addition to the expansion in Busiu, the Lord has called these shepherds to plant a third church! They have several new believers that travel great distances each week, just to worship with other believers.

Once they have clarity on where the Lord is calling them to build, they will need additional support in prayer, as well as financial support. The cost of planting a new church is this area is approximately $18,000. Will you please join us in prayer for discernment on the specific location and for the Holy Spirit to stir the hearts of those whom He’s inviting to financially partner in spreading the gospel into these primarily muslim communities?

Congratulations to Pastor Fred and Moreen Musungu on the birth of their 5th child, Tertias Becker Musungu! May the Lord continue to bless your family!

Meet Mark

Meet Wafula Mark! Mark is deaf and mute. Because of this, we have no information on his identity or history, so the staff of the Shepherd’s Home in Uganda gave him a name! Mark was rescued from the hard reality of living and working on the streets. He has adjusted very well to his new life! He is a joyful young man who works hard helping care for the poultry farm, goats, and the younger children. He is experiencing the love of Christ in action!

Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

We are thankful for the responsibility to help care for Mark! People with hearing loss in Sub-Saharan Africa are disproportionately vulnerable to challenges that lead to homelessness and social exclusion, which Mark has experienced since a young age.

Mark doesn’t just need holistic care now, which he is being given. He needs hope and skills for a future. He has the opportunity to attend a live-in vocational school for the deaf, where he will learn skills to provide for himself and someday, provide for his own family. This specialty school will be an additional cost of $335, plus the cost of tools he will need to perform his new trade. Can you help answer this prayer to send Mark to the specialty schooling he needs?

South Asia

“Why you have been hiding and not telling us?”

This is the question that someone asked after hearing the gospel for the very first time in their life! Living in America, it is hard to fathom someone never having heard the name of Jesus. Yet, this is the reality in many of these hard to reach and heavily persecuted places! Because of your partnership, the name of Jesus was shared for the first time EVER with unreached people groups in 9 remote mountain villages in South Asia during April and May! Hallelujah!

Through “door-to-door” evangelism, open-air services, personal evangelism, and youth gatherings, 4,950 villagers heard the gospel for the first time. 845 of them accepted Jesus as their personal savior! 244 people followed this decision with water baptism! Stories of physical healing, deliverance, restoration, and undeniable miracles mark this trip.

Praise God for your partnership, which helped fund this trip, and for His sovereign goodness!

The villagers in these remote areas are building their own places to worship! Below is a slideshow with a few photos.

2025 Uganda Site Visit

Please pray for our team as they travel to Uganda this week for our annual site visit! Team members on this trip include executive director Chaera Bartel and board members Lyndon and Connie Becker. As a team we will be ministering to the children that list and work in the streets of Mbale, visiting and encouraging the children & staff at the orphanages, preaching at the church, preaching in a muslim village, and meeting with the Ugandan shepherd team to better understand their current needs and how the Lord is moving in their ministries! This will be Chaera’s inaugural visit, which means there will be a lot of information to absorb. Out trip dates are July 20th – August 2nd, 2025.

Specific prayer requests include:

  • Chaera’s understanding of the intricacies of their ministry
  • Clear communication between us
  • That the Holy Spirit will guide out conversations to accomplish all He desires.
  • That we will remain flexible in our schedule and sensitive to promptings of the Spirit.
  • That our travel will go smoothly, without delay
  • That our team will stay physically well and spiritually alert.
